We believe employing a systems perspective provides individuals, groups and organizations a greater likelihood of creating the future they desire with fewer unintended consequences. The endeavor is to promote further awareness and understanding of the power and value of employing a systems perspective and create content essential to enable one to develop and evolve the skill and ability to think and act systemically.

Behavior over Time

From SystemsWiki

A system, and its elements, exhibit a behavior over time, also referred to as a Pattern of Behavior, which can be represented in graphical form. What is often insightful is the unexpected behavior of some of the elements. This unexpected behavior represents emergent characteristics. Fig. 1 depicts the behavior over time for the elements of a Fixes that Fail Systems Archetype.

Behavior over Time graphs are important as a reference mode when you develop a simulation model. If the simulation doesn't produce the behavior over time it's likely there is a problem with the model or the assumptions in the model. If the simulation reproduces the reference behavior over time then it may be a valid representation of the environment under consideration, though you can't always be certain.
